Legacy At 11: Founder's Day Tribute

Eta Alpha Pi Sorority, Incorporated® is the premier Bible-based, non-collegiate Sorority founded on the pillars of ministry, sisterhood, education, social action, and service.

Eleven years ago, a vision took root that would grow into a sisterhood spanning chapters, generations, and callings. That vision belonged to one woman of faith, purpose, and unrelenting conviction: our Founding Onyx, Meelah Lowery.

What began as a calling has become a covenant. What started as an idea has become an institution. And today, as we celebrate eleven years of Ministry, Sisterhood, Education, Social Action, and Service, we pause to honor the woman who said yes when it would have been easier to say nothing at all.

A Foundation Built on Faith

When our Founding Onyx established Eta Alpha Pi in 2015, she did not set out to build just another organization. She set out to build a home for women who wanted sisterhood without compromise and faith without apology. Not church based, but church raised. That distinction has never been a slogan. It has been the very soul of who we are, and it began with her.

Every pillar we stand on today, Ministry, Sisterhood, Education, Social Action, and Service, was placed there with intention. Our Founding Onyx did not simply name these values. She lived them, modeled them, and built the infrastructure to carry them forward long after any single moment in time.

Eleven Years of Building

Across more than a decade, our Founding Onyx has carried the full weight of vision and execution. She has shaped our brand, written our communications, designed our programming, and built out an entire ecosystem, including the Eta Alpha Foundation and Eta University, so that our mission could extend beyond a single sorority and into a movement.

She introduced The Covenant Crossing to ensure our intake process reflects the depth and reverence our sisterhood deserves. She authored our strategic vision for the years ahead under the theme Rooted and Rising, anchored in Colossians 2:7, a reminder that growth only stands firm when it is grounded in something greater than ourselves.

This year alone, she led us through a Grand Reunion that will be remembered for years to come, introducing Project H.O.M.E. and ETA Cares, refining our officer structure, and reimagining our membership categories so that every Eta Pi has a clear path to belong, grow, and lead.

More Than a Title

Onyx is not simply a title our Founding Onyx holds. It is a reflection of who she is: unbreakable, refined under pressure, and valuable beyond measure. Eleven years in, she remains the same woman who started this journey, prayerful, determined, and wholly committed to the women who would come after her.

She has poured into Eta Pis she has met in person and Eta Pis she may never meet at all, because her vision was never about being seen. It was about building something that would outlast her own hands on the work.

Eta Alpha Pi was never meant to be ordinary, and neither was the woman who founded it. Eleven years of Ministry, Sisterhood, Education, Social Action, and Service stand as living proof of what one obedient yes can become.

To our Founding Onyx: thank you for building rooted in faith, for leading with conviction, and for never losing sight of the vision God placed in you. We are who we are because you said yes.
